The purpose of this project was to design a new security station in the main entrance lobby to enhance the prominence of the security presence. The millwork contains two distinct work areas, the accessible visitor desk staffed during normal business hours, and the secured security booth. In addition to the aesthetic requirements, various protective measures such as light, vision and access control and integration of ballistic materials in millwork construction made the project challenging despite its minimal footprint. While upgrading the overall look of the entrance lobby, the new design respects the integrity of the original design and the materials used complement the colour scheme present in the building.
